"Dragons will enjoy a good year (ahead)...but (I’ve) not finished yet...PROVIDED..."
And to roars of laughter from his bemused audience, Joey Yap set an upbeat and rousing mood to the Kuala Lumpur-leg of his annual Feng Shui & Astrology for 2007 Seminar.
|
Talking candidly in disarmingly simple English on this serious topic, Joey’s natural usage of local colloquialisms allowed him to quickly establish a steadfast rapport with the capacity audience of almost 3,500 who packed the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom. In fact, two adjoining Grand Ballrooms had to be used for this year’s Seminar, due to the overwhelming response from the mix of Malaysian and international audience. (This was a significant move from the same Convention Center’s Plenary Hall that sat a maximum of 3,000 for last year’s seminar.) Quite a few Mastery Academy instructors and students from the UK, Australia, Singapore and other countries were seen amongst the sea of faces, as well.
"Now, Feng Shui is not only about Wealth and Wealth alone...it’s about our Health, Relationships, Career and of course, allowing us to enjoy better material comforts in life..."

With this opening salvo, Joey opened accounts for the day with a discussion into the Feng Shui aspects of 2007. He started by defining classical Feng Shui; its usage and applicability to our daily lives in order to attain one purpose: Making life better, no matter what we do. Emphasizing that classical Feng Shui revolves around the factors of direction, location and time, he then proceeded to demonstrate to his listeners how a home or office can be literally Feng Shui-ed, minus the hassle of turning it into a virtual Chinese antiques’ shop!
2 Grand Ballrooms with 4 Giant Screens were needed to cater to the large crowd. | |

Easing comfortable into the topic of Flying Stars, Joey disclosed the Academic, Wealth and Negative sectors for 2007. But he duly cautioned: "...before you rush off and apply everything you learn verbatim, (understand that) not everything is equal, and what suits you, may not suit the person next to you! And as I always say, you must first have hair, before you can comb it..."
Peppering his talks and seminars with a generous dosage of humor has always been typical of Joey, but this approach continues to be proven potent, as his listeners actually empathize with what he is trying to share with them. In this context, he related to his audience that for classical Feng Shui to really work its benefits on someone, this person’s destiny and even face play crucial roles in determining the final outcome of things.
Which of course, allowed Joey to also dispense Face Reading (Mian Xiang) tips with his audience at virtually every opportunity available to do so. An ancient science used by emperors and commoners alike to size up friends and foes instantly, Joey’s Face Reading tips proved to be a HUGE hit with his audience, a vast majority of whom broke into laughter, as they jotted down notes on what he shared with them.
All too soon, it was lunch break but as participants eagerly took their seats to resume the 2nd half of the Seminar, they did so with a good reason: Knowing that Joey was going to share with them what awaits each of the 12 Zodiac Animals in the Year of the Fire Boar!
And they certainly got what they were waiting for, as Joey took to the stage again and proceeded to launch into a detailed discourse on the Health, Wealth, Relationship and Career aspects for each animal of the zodiac, starting from the Rat and ending with the Pig. All the while, Face Reading tips as a means of ascertaining the success of Feng Shui application accompanied this animated discourse, with peals of laughter resonating across the Grand Ballrooms every now and then – an encouraging sign of the audience’s approval of Joey’s trademark humor.
The Seminar negotiated its final turn as Joey shared the BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) Chart for the Year of the Fire Boar. This Chart basically maps out the opportunities and challenges that await humankind in 2007, and with this knowledge, we are actually empowered to make informed decisions in all our endeavors. An overall preview into the year followed suit, with Joey sharing insights into what the Year of the Fire Boar has in store for everyone.
It was clear from the way they shuffled their feet that the audience wasn't quite prepared to leave their seats – despite knowing that the Seminar had finally drawn to a close at 5:30 p.m. Nevertheless, Joey’s wishes to his audience for a 'Happy and Prosperous Year of the Fire Boar' was met with thunderous applause, as he took a bow...and departed from the stage for the last time that day.
