Joey Yap was invited by MPH Bookstores Malaysia to launch his newly-released series of books, Face Reading Essentials, at its store in Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur. The launch was held between 3 and 4:30 PM on a Tuesday afternoon.
Fans started trickling in early to the venue, securing their seats well before Joey made his appearance. It was a warm and intimate setting for these special series of books. The Face Reading Essentials comprise 5 individual books on a particular feature of the face: Eyes, Eyebrows, Mouth, Nose, and Ears. These 5 features are known as the '5 Officers' in classical Chinese Face Reading (Mian Xiang).
Joey introduced audience members to simple and easy-to-apply concepts of Face Reading. He shared intriguing tips, such as the reasons why a woman with a Deer Nose will be able to enjoy a life of pleasure and leisure. He also warned people to steer clear of someone with a Horse Mouth - due to the ridiculous statements that might continually come out of a mouth like that! Other rib-tickling moments included Joey's explanation of why a big-eyed person is likely to cry easily, even over sad TV commercials! Then, there was the "stick your thumbs up your nostrils" test, to figure out if you're a spender or a saver!
He then showed them how easy it was to figure out their own facial features - simply stare at the mirror, identify their features, and flip through the pages to find their match! Each description of the various types of features is accompanied by a clear and detailed image, making it easy for readers to identify their own features - or those of others.
With these entertaining examples, Joey emphasised the significance and applicability of Face Reading techniques to the audience and how it applies in various modern-day situations. Towards the end, he took questions from the audience members, and signed books. After that was over, everyone adjourned to the La Cucur café in MPH to partake in some refreshments - and closely study each other's faces!
