Anticipation was high among the students for the Feng Shui Mastery Series Modules 1 and 2 as this was the first time in a long time that Joey was taking the reigns again for his introductory Feng Shui class. Having concentrated on teaching the advanced level courses for the subject of Feng Shui for awhile now, beginner-level classes taught by Joey was a rare treat – and one that drew in a fantastic crowd!
The Feng Shui Modules 1 and 2 was held at Nikko Hotel in Kuala Lumpur over the course of four days, from April 25 – 28, and saw a large number of students and instructors flying in from various countries to take part in the event. The class was also recorded live throughout the entire four days, which added much excitement to the proceedings.
This time, Modules 1 and 2 were a little bit more special than previous classes, as the course content comprised 60% new information that was not previously taught before. To that end, the course textbooks were also newly-revised and updated with the additional material.
The lessons were liberally peppered with Joey's own personal anecdotes and stories, many of which lightened the heavy moments and had students laughing out loud. For instance, as different parts of the property correspond to different parts of the human body, Joey warned everyone of a "Viagra problem" in 2009! This is because the North relates to a man's reproductive organs, and as the #5 Yellow star resides in the North sector for the year, well... many "problems" are to be expected. This, naturally, brought the house down in laughter while emphasizing to students the myriads ways in which Feng Shui directly correlates with our day-to-day life, whether we're aware of its effects or not.
The class was an ideal environment for new and beginner Feng Shui students to hone their skills, as Joey's clear-cut explanations and entertaining examples formed a perfectly smooth introduction into Feng Shui. Joey's lectures were interspersed with liberal amounts of practice sessions among students to strengthen their foundational concepts and understanding as they learned and absorbed the theories and principles. Not relying on mere textbook formulas, Joey encouraged students to get up and out of their seats to do practical work in groups or in pairs, and even made them go on stage to be "practicing consultants" – a method of teaching that was both highly entertaining and effective!
The revised syllabus, and Joey's fresh approach to teaching, kept the students engaged with the material throughout the intensive four days. As the icing on the cake, at the end of the modules students received individual certificates for Modules 1 and 2 as a form of recognition for their newly-acquired Feng Shui skills.
