Dear Joey, I've become fascinated by BaZi since I read your book on the subject. I practise by using the BaZi charts of my friends. Recently I came across a chart with the 'output' element missing which represents 'children.' What does this mean? She is married and has a child. Will something bad happen to her only child? She has lost a child before. Thank you.

Dear Tzu Tan,

An element can only be regarded as really 'missing' when it couldn't also be found in the 'hidden' stems'. And if this is true, then the 'affinity' with the output element is not good. The person would of course find it hard to communicate effectively with her children and or find it hard to start or conduct her own business. However, there are exceptions to this principle as sometimes thru special combinations the output element might be present.

Warm Regards JY
