Indeed many people are interested in Crystals these days. This interest has got no specific relations to Period 8. If you enjoy collecting these wonderful stones, there's certainly no harm. Whether or not they bring good Qi is debatetable because the usage of these stones were not mentioned in ancient literatures of Classical Feng Shui.
Five Ghost Carry Treasure is an extension from the original "Fu Xing Fan Gua" formula. The original context of the formula is used to identify suitable 'locations' in the environment to position the house to enjoy 'Wealth' Qi from the natural environment. However, today this formula has been watered down to the point where instead of looking for the right location, they resorted to using 'stones' to immitate a Five Ghost formula formation inside the house. This method ONLY WORKS when there is a REAL five ghost (Lian Zhen) mountain outside your home. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and would be better off using the Indirect Spirit water location.
