According to some Chinese beliefs our lives are some how fated. If this is true, can fung shui turn a poor man become very rich? Can we change our destiny/fate by just tapping the chi around us?

Dear Poon, in all Chinese Metaphysics, we always have to remember this principle - an individual's 'Destiny' is equally governed by 3 forces of 'Luck' - Heaven, Earth, and Man. Heaven Luck was set by our time of birth and cannot be changed. Man luck is what actions and decisions we make (we have total control). Earth Luck is where Feng Shui comes in. We do not use Feng Shui to change our Destiny, but to maximise the good and minimise the bad. That is why Feng Shui is most effective when used together with BaZi (Heaven Luck analysis). So can Feng Shui make a poor man rich? Technically Yes BUT it all depends how you define poor and rich. How much money is rich? Are we also including health and relationship aspects? There is quite a general misunderstanding that Feng Shui is all about money - activate wealth star and all. But Feng Shui was not developed for wealth purposes in the first place. Neither is it a 'miracle cure' for all life problems. The ancient sages understood that 'birth, old age, sickness, death' is unavoidable. So Feng Shui is one of the tools to make a person's life process more fulfilling and useful. A person's Path may be 'outlined' by Heaven, but the process is still up to our own effort (Man). Cheers!
